Key staff bio's
Red Cedar Outdoors draws from a pool of talented climbers and outdoorsmen and women for
our trips and lessons. Here are a few key staff members who make us who we are:
Director/creator Matt Novellino brings a unique mix of
outdoors, adventure industry, emergency medical, and military
experience to all of Red Cedar Outdoors' activities. Matt has
camped, hiked, and practiced survival all over the country, has
been an instructor at renowned ski and climbing schools, and has
accumulated real-world safety and rescue skills while serving
as a Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue Swimmer/EMT, and a
civilian EMT. Matt continues to serve and train in the Army National Guard.
Assistant director Jon Sabel has been with RCO from the beginning, teaching
climbing, guiding trips, and administering our Facebook Fan Page and Twitter.
Helping direct a wilderness guiding service is a big responsibility, but with
2 deployments to the Persian Gulf as a Navy Operations Specialist, Jon is no
stranger to having people count on him. Our students have no doubt felt safe with
Jon, but they've been just as quick to appreciate his energy, attitude, and sense of
humor. Jon is 2009 SOLO Wilderness First Aid and CPR qualified.
Guide and instructor Jared Einstein rounds out our
starting line-up with serious fitness credentials. Jared
is an avid triathlon participant and adventure racer,
and a talented climbing instructor. He has also been a
certified Crossfit trainer for over 2 years. We feel lucky
to have Jared on board, and so do our students!
New intern Spencer is on his
way to study Wilderness
Leadership in College, but
before we lose him he'll be
around to lend his passion
and personality to our
events.
